Buyer – On-Site | West Memphis, AR

Automated Conveyor Systems Inc (ACSI) is a 50 year old, employee owned, successful and growing conveyor manufacturer located in West Memphis, Arkansas, just over the bridge from downtown Memphis, Tennessee. We design, sell, fabricate and assemble material handling systems for customers all across the U.S. We have a reputation in the industry for our quality and our timely deliveries.

ACSI is seeking an organized, dependable Buyer to join our team. Working under the guidance of our purchasing manager, the candidate will compile information to prepare purchase orders for the procurement of materials and services.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Verifies purchase requests for materials and equipment.
• Searches inventory records and confirms with the stockroom to determine the need for purchased parts and avoid overstocking.
• Researches and seeks quotes for specific parts, typically requested by Sales or Engineering, including negotiating prices and terms.
• Establishes and maintains ongoing business relationships with preferred suppliers, focusing on supplier relationship management.
• Investigates past due purchase orders and communicates information to appropriate persons for timely resolution.
• Maintains accurate and up-to-date purchased parts and vendor databases.
• Confers with the Purchasing Manager on defective/damaged parts to determine corrective action and ensure quality control.
• Acts as the point of contact for the Stock Room to submit daily packing lists for proper receiving into our system.
• Verifies supplier invoices to purchase orders and prepares payment vouchers for Accounting, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
• Maintains purchasing department duties in the absence of the Purchasing Manager, demonstrating leadership and decision-making skills.
• Demonstrates punctuality and reliability.

Qualifications:

• Some college, either an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
• 3+ years experience in a procurement setting, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office (or comparable).
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Very detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
• A strong sense of urgency and a demonstrated willingness to work and learn.
• Experience with industrial products such as bearings, motors, drives, chains, and sprockets is a plus.
